Meditation and Mindfulness go hand in hand.
In this series I will take you by the hand, and walk you through all the areas of your life experiences where you got lost in the past – lost your Peaceful Self – and didn’t know how to stay Present in your life’s circumstances without upset, blame and fear.
Finding Peace in meditation and Presence in mindfulness will guide you through all the obstacles of thought and belief so that your path is clear and you can easefully rest in the field of limitless love and potential, make wise choices and feel confident in your true worth.
Meditation without mindfulness is only part of the way. You need both to live a balanced life. This series will help you make it practical and useful in your daily life and not just a good experience when you sit on your meditation cushion. The practical side of meditation is often lost and many meditators are great at reaching the Absolute State of Being, but are still suffering in their emotional and physical life.
The mind can be like a wild horse without reigns, or a race car without brakes and can take you for a ride at any time to places you don’t want to go.
Meditation helps discipline your thoughts and still your mind so you may find your deepest resting place, even in the midst turmoil.
Mindfulness makes you aware of how your mind tricks and seduces you into believing things that are not true. With mindfulness you will gain power to be its master and guide it from unconscious, out of control behavior into conscious mature presence. This will make your life a lot more enjoyable and peaceful.
I will show you the essential steps, so you won’t get lost again, and instead be able to maintain your self-awareness and connection. Together we will take each step, one by one, until you feel safe and grounded enough to continue this path on your own. Not alone, but side by side with others who have found peace and freedom in living their life – guided from within.
Description of the Teachings and Meditations:
- Meditation and the Body
Many people are completely out of touch with their bodies, except when they feel hunger, pain, tired, aroused or stressed. We often ignore and suppress these body signs in favor of the mind’s suggestions. Learning to be present and alert in the body is essential in order to become mindful in your life. Your body is the perfect instrument to give you the feed back and guidance you need to start living a happy and fulfilled life. In this meditation you will be guided into your body, step by step, to help you get centered and present and find a solid resting place.
- Meditation and Thoughts
Thinking is one of the biggest addictions we have. In this meditation you will start realizing how seductive and believable your thoughts are as long as they remain unconscious. Learn to make your thoughts conscious so you can create a gap between you and them. Then you realize that you have a choice whether to believe them or not. When you ‘unhook’ from your thoughts by recognizing them before they pull you in, you can redirect this freed up energy. You can focus it on what really matters to you and find more freedom and confidence in the choices you make.
- Meditation and Feelings
Feelings and needs are a natural part of life. When you ignore, suppress or resist them, they turn into undigested emotions, which cause a lot of stress and suffering in your body. In this meditation you will learn how to bring love, kindness and a listening ear to these unexperienced and unexpressed feelings. They are wise. Listen to them, respect and trust yourself, and watch a lot of the daily stress and confusion dissolve. The clarity and wisdom previously suppressed will take center stage. and bring more peace and harmony into your life.
- Meditation and the Heart’s DeSire
When you learn to listen to your body, your needs and feelings, you will automatically get in touch with your Heart’s deSire. Allow Spirit to guide you through your Heart. In this meditation you will get in touch with the deepest longing in your Heart. As you listen, you will find your Heart opening wider. It is not an accident or mistake that you feel this deep longing inside. It is what you came here for.
The true meaning of deSire:
de: from/of. Sire: Creator, Source, Spirit. The deSire in your Heart is Spirit’s Way to guide you on your life’s path.
It is patiently waiting for you and is the One thing that will ever make you feel at peace and happy.
- Meditation and the Art of Allowing
When you start paying attention to your feelings and deSires, you realize how much you have resisted what deeply matters to you. The art of Allowing will open up a whole new realm of possibilities. Turn the grip of resistance into an open hand of Allowing and realize unlimited potential in the palm of your hand. In this meditation you will learn to feel and embody the transformative power of Allowing.
- Meditation and ‘Who Am I?’
Self inquiry is at the core of all meditation practices and is essential if you want to wake up to Who You Are. When you realize that you are not your body, your thoughts or your feelings, you may wonder: ”Who am I then?” You will find the answer in the spaciousness of Allowing. In this meditation we will explore that question as you are invited to bring your awareness back to ‘I’. What you call ‘I’ in your daily life is at the core of everything. The question ‘Who Am I?’ asks you to go inside and allow this ‘I’ to reveal itself. This is the beginning of realizing your ‘I’ to be the divine essence and presence penetrating everything, everywhere.
What people say about this series:
~I just wanna say I am very thankful for your class. Meditation is something I have always wanted to practice, but whenever I tried starting a practice it always seemed too daunting. I think it is important for a skill like meditation to start out learning together in a group. After taking your class, I think I’ve really gotten a skill of being able to just sit back and find myself anywhere, and your class was like turning on a light bulb and saying, ” Ok so thats how you meditate”~ BR (UCSC student 2010)
~Thanks to these meditation classes, I am finally beginning to listen to my heart. I am now aware of the things that I want to experience from life because I’ve chosen not to ignore or suppress my feelings and thoughts that make me who I am. Meditation opened my eyes to a whole different world of endless possibilities.
I found a place, through meditation, in which I can escape to when my college lifestyle becomes overwhelming. I can undoubtedly say that I will treasure this experience always, throughout the journeys life takes me. I hope that eventually the healing nature of meditation can be shared with everyone.
The world would be a much happier place. Meditation changed my life for the better and can do the same for anyone willing to listen to their heart.
Katie Prior (UCSC student Winter class 2011-12)
~This class brought forward many topics I always believed in. But now, instead of just talking about them, learning about them, I learned how to apply them to my life. I learned how to start reaching peace in myself, and I want to thank you for that.
Golzar Arvin (UCSC student Fall class 2012)
