How often do you feel or think that there is something wrong or there is something wrong with you and that you need to do something to change that?
I had a wonderful conversation with my friend Pralaya, last week’s guest on my radio show, and it helped me see how the spiritual expression “there is no doer” relates to the human expression “There is something wrong with me.”
What Does It Mean That There Is No Doer?
Let me share a little more:
If you have ever gone to satsang or other spiritual gatherings you may have heard the terms “there is no doer,” “everything just happens spontaneously,” “there is nothing to do.”
If you have even had a small glimpse of awakening, you know that this is true. You realize the person you have been identified with, is merely a (believed) thought. This realization changes the feeling of being wrong to something more like a bad joke. But that is not the end. This realization needs to be embodied and brought to all the layers and levels that don’t get the joke yet.
Well, here is the catch that many are caught in: It does not mean that you don’t need to do anything anymore. It merely means that you don’t need to do anything to become who and what you already are.
There Is Plenty To Do
Until that is realized, there is plenty to do – you cannot help it. After that is realized, there is plenty to do, trust me, but the motivation doesn’t come from a place where there is something wrong with you and therefore needs fixing. Something greater inside of you moves your actions, and in my experience it is now time to learn to trust this movement, no matter how different it is from anybody else’s, and no matter how different it is from what you are used to.
Unhooking From the Felt Sense
Because we have been so identified with the belief/feeling that something is wrong, it really takes time and dedication to learn to trust this inner Movement. It also takes time to unhook from the grip that something is wrong. It takes more than a glimpse. It is a process of embodying what has been realized.
Familiar Companion
Feeling that there is something wrong with me has been a familiar companion most of my life. I grew up in a family where I was always made wrong and never felt acknowledged, so it makes sense that this belief got spoon-fed into every cell of my body .
I know this familiar underlying felt sense that something is wrong all too well
I know it takes time to let every cell be informed of and feel the good news that all is already well
I have learned and am constantly learning to unhook from this felt sense and instead live by the inner Movement that guides my actions from a place of Love, creativity and wholeness
I want to share more about this with you on my radioshow Tuesday October 1st and invite you to chime in if you feel so moved (from within 🙂
Just go to Awakened Radio at 11AM PDT and listen to one of my last shows for now.
My inner Movement is not feeding my radio show right now like it used to. And after some time of deep listening, I am going to take a break after next week’s show. So for now, October 8th will be the last show until and if the Movement moves again. If it does, you’ll be the first one to know.
Feel free to join in and help make these last 2 shows so inspiring that they may start a new Movement 🙂
