The Fuel And The Fire
Dear Friend,
Did you know that when chicken hatch, they have ‘hack a certain amount of hacks’ until the shell brakes and they come out strong and healthy?
I heard a story about an experiment with chicken to see what would happen when they only hacked half the amount of hacks that they would normally do if left in a natural environment. The experiment was set up so that every time when the baby chick hacked from the inside, an equal outside hack would be applied. So by the time the egg cracked the chicken had only hacked about half the amount that it would normally do.
The result? Those chickens were weaker and unhealthier and some died soon after.
The point? It is our challenges that make us healthy, strong and capable of living the life we came here for. That is why being grateful for your challenges and hardships makes sense, although it often isn’t realized till after the fact.
True commitment is the fuel and the fire all at once. The fuel because it gives you the strength and stamina to reach your goal and the fire because it helps you burn through any obstacles in your mind or life that have held you back in the past. It is a refining process to stay with the commitment and find the right action to take from there, moment to moment. When I commit to something that I am yearning for, I know how easy it is to fall for the belief that I need to know how to do it right away, or at least soon. Setbacks and falling for old temptations are ‘not allowed,’ because they feel like I’m a failure and am doing something wrong. Nothing could be further from the truth. How can you be a failure when you are learning something new? How can a toddler be a failure when s/he falls over as s/he is learning to walk?
When something starts stirring inside of you and begins to move you in a new direction, such as changing your diet, starting a meditation practice or listening to your Heart, you are just changing direction. You turned onto a new path and are now going to learn how to walk it, so that when you come to the end of this path (whatever that means) you have developed a whole new skill that you can apply in your life. All the falls you took to get you Here, only made you stronger at doing and becoming what you long for. It is only by taking the steps, one after the other, that you learn to be healthy, meditate or listen to your Heart. Each step is an essential step of learning and developing a new skill from the inside out. The seeming failures are exactly what make you able to become it.
Let’s make sure to celebrate the challenges, the failures and finally the victories that can only arise out of them.
Your commitment will show you and help refine your actions until you are in full alignment with your Heart. When you keep coming back to the longing of your Heart and stay there more and more, you’ll notice how the obstacles dissolve and the truth and expression of your true being emerges.
Your commitment is indeed the fuel and the fire you need to slay dragons, rescue abandoned parts of yourself, walk on razor’s edges and care enough about yourself to become vulnerable, authentic and whole.
May we all walk this path as One and create a world dictated by the wisdom and longings in our Hearts.
ALL Love,
Pernilla
