This poem came from the moment I realized the mold I’d built for myself had cracked apart — and I didn’t want it back. You may recognize it as the feeling when you’ve outgrown a piece of clothing. Time to let it go!
I don’t fit into your mold anymore
Truthfully, I don’t fit into my own
which I shaped so I could fit into yours
and play along in a world I have now outgrown
My mold has melted, cracked and fallen apart
and now I stand butt naked wrapped in an open Heart
without my familiar conditioned form
that kept me safe within society’s norm
I simply outgrew it and burst the outline
My Heart took over and brought sanity back online
I don’t really know who I am anymore
and for the first time I feel I am the Me I always wanted to Be
Me, me, me
free, free, free
freed from the old me
unburdened and free
The best part about it
is that I don’t care what you think about me,
project onto me
or stories you make up about me
It was the caring about your opinions
that kept me locked into your mold
along with all the lies I’d been told
and started making me feel old
We are not meant to be living in a mold
even if it looks like it’s made up of gold
Burst the borders
brake the rules
stand in your power
don’t listen to these fools
dance in the Light
of your own radiance, so bright
and build a new path where we all can start
breaking the old mold and be guided by our Heart.
